CrossCurrents@ Osage Singapore,Old School(Former Methodist girls school)

This is the exhibition I have been telling some of you about. And my cousin, yes Kingsley Ng Siu King's art is being featured. And besides him, there are also numerous other artists from Signapore and China being involved. In total, there are 7 exhibits which should take about 1 hour to finish seeing them all. All these pieces are interactive media art. So the viwer is required to engage the piece to understand the meaning it is trying to convey.

First up, The Chinese mechanic T-Rex by some chinese Artist. this T-Rex will not scare you unless you provoke it by waving infront of the sensors. After that, the speakers and mechanic components will spring into action and..creat a sudden racket that'll scare you off your feet. Serious. So I suppose this is supposed to signify China as a rising power.

Different walks of life: These may look like normal photos. but they are actually formed by digitally combining numerous images of nhumerous persons in the same background. the effect, is this interesting+ghostly image? XD

360 degrees of airports. Showing the sights and sounds of an airport terminal and the stories that are acted out everyday. Happy ones..sad ones...

There's also this "Music dance' thingy at the old auditoriaum with laser and mist effect. Supposed to mimmick the music by a Guzheng.

Normal Chinese Communist propaganda poster being projected on a wall? Why does those faces look like me?

Cuz you've been caught on "candid Camera" Visitors have their faces being captured by a candid camera placed infront of the piece and their faces are being integrated into the picture. Supposed to mean how vulnerable we are to err..propaganda?

You can even listen to Mao speak whose back from the grave! ARRGGH!

And finally, Kingsley will present his piece: The musical wheel.
The musical wheel is essentially a horizontal revolving wheel where you get to sit in and there will be the sound of soft, slow music from a string instrument along with noise recorded from Kwun tong in Hong Kong. this is accompanied with laser light from the ceiling.

The sound of string instrument actually comes from these wires that are located along the sides of the wheel. As the wheel revolves, the is a needle that will strike the wire to produce the sound. the wires are arranged in such a way that the revolution results in an effect of a slow Chinese song played aon a Guzheng.

This is where the visitors will sit.

A few mediacorp artistes also came along for some filimg of the place. Which should be broadcasted soon..I hope....

Something very important to all of us...
This is Mr Gilbert Tan, an artist who broke his neck 24 years ago. So now, he's painting with his mouth...
And..It's not easy...took him more than ten years to master this art..
But he pesevered...
To get to this....in just ten minutes...
Bear in mind that there are a gazillion people who are worse off than you are. Even if you have screwed your mid-years or broke your leg, or suffered something like Gilbert Tan,there's still a chance if you believe in your goals.
Photo courtesy to Mabel who helped me take some of the pictures. XD
Perkafe!it!s: Arrow me Arrow you
Had a rather fiery meeting yesterday between the "Democrats" and "Republicans" represented by JiaXian and EnChou over the half-way through Co-Op recruitment...and we spent over an hour dwelling over it...hmmx..duno what to say...guess both sides have a point? But have we been wasting too much time over something which is already done? So I ended up reaching home at 9pm...some of the people who stayed behind left school at 9pm..wow...lucky I did'nt stay...or else, I'll probably end up like...ZiMin...her panda eyes were the darkest among us..XDXD No offence!
As for today, we went IKEA to buy straws and eat their all time heavenly Hot Dogs. We also embarressed the college today by pressing the bell on the shuttle bus to Tampines. So malu lor...hehe!

GP
Oh well, had our mental excercise this morning with our really mind-boggling GP paper. Paper One was not too difficult cuz i wrote the easiest Topic: mass media. paper Two was the Killer. We were given this cheemo passage about Money and happiness and we had to answer a bunch of questions all in own words, even the summary. (This is worse dan Os cuz Os u still can copy n re-arange the words. This time they want total change to the words and phrases.) The first few questions were rather understandable. But the last questions and the summary was the part that literally killed us off. Most of us were silently swearing at the questions cuz we have no idea of what they want. oh well, I might as well swear here to show the severity: KNNCCB!!! Thankyou.

Learning "Journey"

learning On the MRT!!!

This learning journey turned out to be a makan and misbehave session. Our class first created havoc at marina KFC by re-arranging their tables. We then started crapping about "sensitive topics" whcih led to sudden outbursts of laughter and screams from the table. So much so that some of the lights actually "auto-turn-offed" a few times while we were there.

Chiobus of 501 @ KFC

Our visit to Esplanade was equally crazy. We "proposed" to Mrs chua on the roof-top with our bouquet of Farrero Rocher Chocs(Sorry..i think i spell wrong..hehe). We also had an ice-cream treat from Haagen Daz. Cuz HQ used to work at their Esplanade branch. So the Person In-charge there(Not manager...I think?) gave us double scoop for the price of one! He's like so good! And i can tell you the ice-cream there is unmatchable. If you thought Perkafe ice-cream was nice, try Haagen Daz..you'll never regret spending that $4.90. Really....once a life-time must try.
Oh well, I'd better let the pics do the talking...=)

OMG! I looks super retard in this pic la! i was supposed to be strangling Ben...No i look like I'm gona hug him....disgusting!

Some Arty pics worth publishing.

Art really connects people. Like this high-rise window cleaner, who has his life hung on a piece of art: The Durian!

Oversized Durian....persoanlly, I find the esplanade more like an oversized fruit delicacy rather than a artistic building as some people claim. Besides, I have started to like durians. They may smell like (HK ppl like to call them cat shit cuz thery kinda smell like that) but their taste is.....one word: heavenly!

Really cute glass err...mushrooms popping out of the grass

Need i say more?

Pirates of the Carribean
After our learning journey, the whole level of J1s were required to report to Shaw Towers to watch Pirates of Carribean( At World's End). apparently MJ booked the ENTIRE theatre just for us! And the theatre was HUGE! It could seat like more than 900 people. Best of all, all the audience is" your own people" so everyone could laugh or cheer without feeling malu. So the whole theatre was really noisy with all of us laughing and cheering all the while. The movie rocked totally. First of all, the music( aiya...hear every year from TK Band...but it does refreshes my memory....oh man..i really miss cheering for them and doing council cheer-leading..hehe!) Ok..so the music was wonderful, and the story was great too. The best part was where Will proposed to Elizabeth during the battle between the Pirates and Davy Jones. The scene was very tense, but the "Proposal" of marriage made the scene hilarious. The whole theatre was like laughing throughout. Another funny part was a small scene when jack Sparrow asked his dad about his mum. It was like:
Sparrow: So how's mum?
Dad:(Shows sparrow a skull)
Sparrow: Oh you look great!
wahlau...his expression damn funny la...
And one last thing for people planning to watch this film. REMEMBER to stay behind after the credits cuz there's still a samll part after it to end off the story. it's a scene of "Ten years later" when Will......I'll not elaborate..go watch n find out...go watch the show okay!
And I just remembered that I missed Campus Superstar tonight. arrgghh! I wana hear Hysen Lim sing! Later we can mae him singe during Biz Club!
