Mugger Feet walk China 2008 Part3:The latest Pudong episode:
Went to the head-office at Pudong today. And contrary to what the ADs say is 'THE most happening financial district in China, if not the WHOLE of East Asia,this place is a HUGE GIGANTIC construction site! There's like 1 construction site every half a block. And each project is a mega-project, probably only rivaled by Dubai(Rich oil b*******...-_-").But there are nice places in this one of a construction site, which, I have done my duty as 'part of a" Chinese citizen: To use flowery words(ahem) to toast our nation. (Probably another responsibility for Singapore anyway...sianz..) So I've 2 nice and artistic pictures of 2 Pudong Landmarks. The Jingmao Tower and SWFC tower, currently the tallest building in Northeast Asia.I shall..errr..show the not-so-nice- pictures later...this is just NOT the right place.World's biggest and fastest "Toy"
I was released early today so I got te opportunity to ride the world's fastest toy. The Maglev. Currently you can only 'play' this toy in Germany where they have a test-track which welcomes visitors. The Japanese one is (sorry..too bad) currently unavailable to visitors. Surprisingly, the placeis quite accessible contrary to most criticisms. Just exit the MTR at Exit 3 at Longyang road, take the escalator, and you are here. Tickets cost RMB $40 single trip and RMB $80 round trip ( S$8.00 per trip) And payment using the transit card get 20% discount. Shiok right? (This is cheaper than Narita and HKIA)
But none the less, this system is still less accesible compared to other airport rail networks such as HKIA, Narita and BCIA because Longyag road is located near...yet another construction site so you get dust blasted in your face as you go up the escalator and there are NO lifts. So if you have big baggage..TOO BAD!
The speedometer on board. And the maximum speed is 431km/h. Faster than any other land transport ever invented. And unlike other things in this country, you can trust this speedometer. It's operated and built with German assistance. And we ALWAYS trust Germans with quality.
