Mugger Feet Walk China Part 8-9:
Part8
I had to run a rather interesting errand in HongKou district so I shall push the post about work in a later post.
Lets start with some ranting about the transport system...
Today's bus journey was the most scary of all the bus trips I took in the past week. ur driver not only boke the speed limit, he actually tried to overtake cars from the road shoulder( the lane supposed to be used only during emergency).
Time:08 35

Time: 08 35 20
See? The bus over-took a speeding car.
Time:09 05 00
And I was relieved I reached Old Chegdu Rd Terminus in one piece.
Then had to haul the bag of samples( taken from th factory earlier in the morning) onto the Red Line of the metro.
Very crowded....And I almost got robbed by some wierdo Mongolian looking guy(Not the guy in the pic) who tried to get close to me. Being rather accustomed to the rudeness of the commuters, I shoved him off and he kinda gave me this very paiseh face. Yea..so maybe he really wanted to mug me.
Then..still had to change AGAIN to get to DongBaoXing Rd, my final destination. This time, I had to take the Yellow Line which is a 500m walk from the Red Line platform..by the time the train arrived, my legs are almost broken from all the rushing and running...and dodging run-away commuters. (Some people here are "blind" cuz they dun use their eyes when they walk..so they langa into people..grrr!)
And when I boarded the train? More standing....grrr....
By the time I reached my destination and settled off with the receipiant, It was almost lunch time...And given the cold weather, I was starving even before reaching my receipiant.
All the hastle, has its rewards. I was given free time for the rest of the afternoon and the followng day!yay! And I got to walk around HongKou district, and Duolun Road. Including LuXun's previous residence and musuem. LuXun is de guy who wrote the "teng ye sian sheng" in de chinese textbook...de siao siao one..rmb? ya..dat one. So you kinda get an idea of what is inside. The content inside is quite interesting and you will actually get to understand more about that wierdo passage after seeing the exhibits. (But.....Chinese A level is over le..)Admission is free for students. Do show ur Singapore EZlink card. They also accept de.
Duolun Rd is another interesting place located within walking distance from LuXun's Memorial Musuem.
Korean Food is very Ichiban!
And the place is posh!
Art Gallery
Another cheemo art gallery. This used to be theresidence of some writer.
Former residence of..err...some KMT guy..The name is: Bai's Mansion (Think of Bai Zhi Peng....................Last time someone by the name of Bai used it)
Colonial South East Asian Architechture.
Left:A Chinese-Western designed church. The priest and his family were killed during WW2. T was used asa school, a museum and some Jap HQ during WW2. Now, it's used as a church once again.
Right: Jap food!=)
Duolun Rd Museum of Modern Art. More cheemo art stuff...the street's full of it.
Drinking Yakult in China
Yakult here is called "yang le duo". Bottle size is same as Singapore. And.. for those who never visit Yakult factory with Biz Club,Singapore has the only Yakult in the world with multiple flavours. So as expected, Yakult here has only the original flavour. The taste is less sweet than Sinapore and there's a more milky taste. Straws are not provided.
Part9
Muggerland-China-Shanghai Musuem of Sci&Tech

Shanghai Musuem of Science and Technology
Very huge place, probably 5 times the size of S'pore Science Centre with 4 times the cheemness and 10times as many people. Ya...damn crowded...

Chemistry:
Let's try some calcite shall we?
In Chinese and Chinglish!
And chemical formula....
Some muggers taking picturesof the samples. See, Meridian muggers must learn from Chinese Muggers kae!

Geography:
Now, I shall write an essay on plate techtonics in Chinese!
I think Mr Alvin Tan will FREAK OUT when he hears of this....XD (evil laugh)

Multimedia area:
Some kids try to figure out how to broadcast themselves..=)

While some autie and uncle dance in front of the camera....
I've also made something stupid at their gallery..it concerns BizClub..XD

And...this place is FULL of Muggers of all kinds...
Everywhere people mountain people sea..
Food Republic:Shanghai
In my opinion, Food Republic gotta do something about the quality of their overseas investments. I ordered Laksa and the taste was....(If you thought MJC Canteen Laksa was bad, you're gona vomit whn you taste it)...The soup tastes as if it were from cup noodles(Powder+waterkind) and the noodles themselves were overcooked. And it ended up not tasting like laksa. So...fellow MJ Biz Clubbers..next time if you ever wana make an investment overseas in the food industry, please..remember....bring along someone from Katong 328 or someone experienced in making Singapore food. It'll be a disaster asking some untrined soul to cook them..
Mugger Life-Shanghai
Shanghai muggers have as much material wealth as many S'porean muggers like us. As seen here, they have at least an Ipod(girl on the left), and(PS2, boy in the centre). Many carry branded items such as branded bags.(Even richer than my cousin in Guangzhou...)= )
Behavior wise, they behave just like Meridians. They hang out alot, do stupid stuff( Girl shouting at friend downstairs..) and make a total fool of themselves....(Remember Geraldine being pushed around by Daniel on a supermarket trolley..XD)
And their uniforms are....er...if you are not a fan of track pants and jackets, then too bad..cuz almost all schools wear those.
(I'll have to ask my cousin if you wana know their curriculum and academic life.)
Jiang Shan Mei Ren(Chinese beauty)
For those of you who have heard of the legend that Shanghainese girls are the chio-est of all Chinese women, then you are correct!(Ah Meng would be happy to hear of this) Shanghainese girls are indeed very chio and have a better fashion sense than people from inner China. Though their degree of hotness is lower than Singaporeans, they tend to lean towards the cute cute side..like Jap girls..XD
But beauty comes at a price. Shanghainese girls are also infamous for being bossy and in most cases, their husbands are supposed to become their subjects while they head the household(See? Chinese women do enjoy a high status in Chinese society...make a note to your CSE notes). So most men in Shanghai tend to follow the same status as HongKong gentlemen: "Xiao nan ren" (Little men)
