OMG! It's Camp!!! =D

World Cup is here!!! Everyone's waving their flag and feeling more hyped up than before! But spending time with God was even more EPIC than the most 'awesmazing' matches!

What's a person who is poor in spirit? In lay man's terms, this basically refers to someone who is 'less holy'. But are they as blessed as those who are strong in spirit? As long as you are humble and submissive to the Lord you will be blessed. This was clearly demonstrated in the Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collectorin Luke18:9-14, whih compared the attitudes of a religous man who is full of himself and a sinner who humilifies himself in front of God.
This reminds me of my own ego. Especialy when I start comparing people. I may be more knowledgeable than some people according to 'certain' standards, but I may also be lacking in many areas. So what am I to comment on people or criticize them? However, inaction itself can be a sin, especially when you are very sure that if you do not take action, the situation maight deterioirate dramatically. Most importantly, I feel, is to express with mutal resct and voice my views without demolishing other people.
Don't be proud of your knowledge. AND Have a sense of NEED for God =D

Eddie is just entertaining! =) And so are the many many other people who camped with us =D yay!!! The 'Happy Day' song is still stuck in my head! All of us are precious to God, and so are the talents he gave to us. Some of us may be less outspoken than others but every single talent we have is indispensible for camp. So don't just judge people with our first impressions. Some talents may take a longer time to discover but we may be needing these talents from these people. =D

Ahhhhh! So tired! (Looks at Jeslyn and Bryan. hahaha!) But we pesevered!! Even through sleepless nights! Because we keep on trusting Christ and is promises: No matter how we may feel, no matter what others may say and no matter the circumstances may look, we live by FAITH not by sight! =)

And why were we sleepless?Tadah!!! Epic right? It took us 2 nights just to construct. And lots of sweat. Kudos to the build team! =)

And before we demolish it, a final crawl through the maze. =D

Global Day Of Prayer

What kind of impact can our generation make to our world?

And what are the talents he has given us that we can sacrifice? What skills do you have that you can give back as a sacrifice? Your ability to nurture? Your art? Or everything that you have? There's just so many ways we can contribute. Even in the smallest ways.
This brings me to this story from this sermon last last week.
Imagine you are outside this food stall and queing up to buy food. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw this old lady eyeing LONGINGLY at the food. You see that she probably cannot afford the food.What will you do?
Ignore her? Or will you sacrifice a meal for her? (ie buy her a meal which the most $5-$6? ) To us, 5,6 dollars my seem quite insignificant. (Not applicable to NS guys drawing very very low 'allowance). But to a person who really needs that, it would probably be the biggest blessing they receive.
So the next time we come across such a situation, give a bit of sacrifice to the person. And I can assure you, that little bit of sacrifice will give fullfill you greatly becaue you have just given a very BIG blessing to someone. =) High 5!

Annd, I feel VERY blessed this week! A VERY BIG THANKYOU to everyone for your greetings and encouragements! Thankyou Biz Club for almost OWNING Perkafe (wait..we do OWN the cafe! haha!) to give me a good 'bashing'. =) And thankyou Pub com for the cake! It was very sweet! =) And for those who wished me but I've forgotten to wish youn your birthdays, thankyou so much for reminding me how little my blessings are no matter how much I do and the need to bless as many people as IS can in future.

Time No Enough By Amy Teo: 10/04/2010
This post is based on a sermon. I've simplified it to make it more digestable.

Not very long ago most of us were still wearing that ruddy uniform and mugging for A levels. By now, most of us would either be in the second half of (service) or finishing their first years at university. Have we regretted doing or not doing anything in the past? And most important of all, have we been maximising time that is given to us.

Time is a resource, just like food, water, and other resources that keep us alive. It's the frame to which we are planned to live in and serve the world. Therefore, letting time flow by is like letting water flow by and not making use of it. This brings us to the bad news: time really flies. There's nothing you can do about it. But the good news is: you're the pilot. You're in control.

So what will happen to you let's say 3-4 years from now? You can decide where you will be. How?
Ask these questions:
How often have you spent time with your family?
How much time have you spent on studies, work and ministry?
How much time have you spent on yourself? (Spiritual and emotional)
Answer these questions and make sure you are happy with your answer. If not, do something to it to make it happy to you =)

This was the conversation I heard at the next table between a Hong Konger and a gwailo (Ang mo) Aparently, this Hong Kong office dweleer decided to plug in his laptop at the socket next to this gwailo and it kinda got on his nerves because all over Starbucks almost everyone else has a laptop and surfing typing away furiously (me inclusive). hahaha!

Back in Pedder Street:

At this very moment, I'm doing this. Yes, look at the photo above. Writing my essay, blogging, Faebook-ing, and surfing the web at Starbucks...in where else? Pedder Street. So what brought me here?

Moment ago, I was a this place (Hong Kong Professional Teacher's Union for something after a rather not very nice morning in mainland China (quite obvious which part of mainland China) So I was kind of..sleepy...so...hehe..that's why I craved for my caffiene. =)

And thankyou to the people who sent me off...haha! And passing me stuff to pass to 'someone" haha! 'Somebody in blue ' looks vry pinch-able in this photo yea? haha!

And who is the benefiter? haha! =) Yuppz..All the cargo has been delivered safely to her so no worries! And PLEASE! There's NO SCANDAL between us! We just spent the evening at Dai Ka Lok (A very crowded HK fastfood resteraunt) and nothing else! haha! I doubt I'll see her for the rest of the week because she's busy preparing for exams in April so better not disturb her =)
I'll be meeting some othe rinteresting people he next few days..atch this space!

STEREOTYPE!

Recently, while browsing the forums, I happened to come across a lot of discussions about the different JCs and all the stereotypes of each college. Somehow some of them seem to be quite accurate. remember the chain email about how many students it takes to screw a light bulb from TJC? This cartoon will further exaggerate it for the top 3 colleges in the east.
What do students do at University open houses?
1. VJC
They hang around their seniors and join as many CCAs as possible. Because they are just...WOW...and extremely extrovert?
2.MJC
They collect as many flyers and brochures as if they were lecture notes. Typical Kiasu-ness of a Meridian. And not to forget their addiction to mugging.
3.TJC
They just hang around..cuz they're just smart. -_-"

LT4: Please Pay Attention As We Collect Your Results...

AHHHH! A Level results!
Some have done exceptionally well..especially people like Javier, Ai Ting and Clarissa. (Cheers)
Then there are those who did well, ok, and 'did not meet expectation'. However, most important of all is how you continue from here. A levels results will just be a piece of paper, just like what our O level results are to us now. Just look at some of the people who did well for A levels. Some of them did not have good O level scores..or have not been performing well all their academic life but they managed to release their full potential this A level. (Yes, I'm actually referring to somebody and I really feel happy for that person =D)
So whatever you see in your results slip, rejoice if it's good, but don't '灰心' if you did not perform as well.

MJC Graduation 1 year on...

One year after graduation...I've risen up in rank to become a 'Retired Senior' because all my juniors have all entered school after I graduated. Nothing much has changed since we left. The study benches have not moved since we last mugged there but the muggers have, ofcourse changed greatly. Most of them are much smarter than us and much more hard working. This made me feel SUPER OLD in front of them because..well...they had much less worries..(come on...it's just A levels..there's ALOT of things out there that's 10^n times shittier than A levels..NS is just one of them..=/) sigh..sometimes you really wished you could go back to the good old days...chionging for lecture, rushing tutorials...mopping the Perkafe floor..=D

The pool table has not changed other than the resurfacing.

Some idiot threw a tennis ball into the pool table pocket and it clogged up the mechanism. So...too bad...we had to slowly....centimetre by centimetre, dig the ball out. =D

The most intriguing thing I found out when I went back was that every one of us seems to have our own replacement in our junior batch. For example, Denise has Felicia (girl in black second from right) who has that 'Denise' Aura. Mabel has Shi Qi (The crazy person on the extreme right...-_-") because they have alot of similarities. hmm..As for me...I think my closest resemblence would be Desmond. haha!

珍惜

前一天，我家某位親人去世了。48小時前，他還生生猛猛得，48小時后他卻是趟在棺材裏頭。唔。。。命運這種東西真是很難預測。雖然我跟他不是很親，但總是有點難過，不開心。不過，事情都發生了，只好無奈接受。我回想起最後一次見他的時候，應該是大約一年前，有點後悔沒有好好珍惜我們最後一次見面的那一小時。
很多事情我們很難預測。講得難聽一點，你不知道你今天所擁有的東西明天還會不會在你身邊。比如說我的某某好友。幾年前，我們可以說是有點像對‘小夫妻’（對不起！我跟她從來都沒開始過！！）最近我又和她約過會，我們之間好像隔了一段距離。也許太久沒見，太久沒談，我們的共同點減少了，生活圈子也有所改變。這些改變我們不能埋怨，因爲時間是不會停頓下來的，而改變也會跟著時間而‘進行’。
任性的我們當然想快樂的時刻永遠停留，永遠繼續，但是理性告訴我們所有東西都會有開始和終結。最重要的還是珍惜現有的快樂，如果可以的話，把快樂用照片或文字紀錄下來。當這時刻已過的時候，不妨去回味一下啦！=）

The Story of the GOLDfish...
Inspired by YMPACT candle light service Dec 24 2009

Once upon a time, in a land.....not far at all....at Pasir Ris Street 21, lived a very blur..I mean..very very blurrrrr..... and studious girl by the name of....MARIE. Her academia at Junior College were very very average. And she kept a very very big aquarium (Ok...let's turn our attention away from this insignificant character....) Oh wait....she's now going to narrate....haha!
7am. Weather: Sunny, few clouds.
As I look out of the window a wonderful scenery came to my eyes. The morning breeze blew into my face and the birds chirped wonderful music into my ears. People are rushing about their work and busying about their lives. Some not knowing what they are busying for. How beautiful a world God has made for us.
I turn my attention from the window to my aquarium. The tall water plants look like the sky scrapers in town and the fishes swim about busily hurrying from end to end. I picked up the fish food and dropped them into the aquarium. All the fishes swam towards me and gobbled the food. Jack and Jill were among them. Their orange scales glittered in the sun rays that entered the room. Meanwhile, breakfast was ready. I gobbled my food just like how Jack and Jill did.
I walked back to the tank and put my nose up at the glass. Jack and Jill swam hurriedly away from me. Oh Jack, Oh Jill, why are you so afraid of me? I am thy, who gave you your food. I am thy who cared and loved you. Why are you so scared of me?
One day, Jack and Jill got angry with each other. They fought and bit each other. Poor Jack's eyes were injured and they were infected. I used my net to catch him and put him in a quarantine tank. As I tried to catch him, I could see the terror in his eyes. Why do you fear me Jack? I'm here to help you! How much do I wish I could talk to you. What would happen if I reincarnated into a fish?
2009 years ago, this was probably what God felt like when he peered into the world he created. His children were fighting each other and He could not communicate with them. So He sent His reincarnation down to earth to talk to them and spread them His love. His reincarnation is none other than Jesus.
Ofcourse I am not God, but I shall pray that He would help me spread my love to them.

At the state of the world today, it's not surprising that God might see us the same way just like how Marie saw her fishes- Jack and Jill.

Anyway, to those who don't understand what I wrote above, never mind! Christmas is a time to give and celebrate. Hope everyone had fun and MOST importantly, given someone love and care. Merry Christmas!!! =)

Silent Night

Silent Night,Holy Night
and all is fine...
This was the scene at the Sanctuary at PMC at 9pm on December 24th, 2009 years after the birth of Christ. Peaceful yet illuminating. This year's Christmas service had a bit more meaning to me compared to previous ones I went for, probably because this year I have truely surrendered myself to Him. this also brings me to the LG outing yesterday. (Actually most of what we talked was...hehe...rubbish) but the conversation we had on the bus brought about some thinking.
Given a choice, would you be a Good Christian who followed God from day 1? Or a previous dry/non-Christian? Actually there's no answer.
No doubt, the best answer is to be the first one. Be a good Christian from the day you are born and be faithful to Him. By doing so, you are loyal and will not do any evil. You are close to all His children in Church. However, such Good Christians also have a problem, especially the younger ones who are less mature. They have never had a profound or impactful experience with God. Sometimes they may even wonder...what has God done to me? Therefore it takes a longer time for them to truely understand and appreciate the love God has for them.
For a dry/non-Christian who found themselves in Church after some time...or in some cases a long time away form God, they may have some difficulty integrating into the Church as most of His children are quite used to each other and it takes some time to get used to a new member. However, this person will appreciate God much earlier than the good Christian.
Some of you may doubt what is mentioned above. Though I personally regretted not going back to Church earlier. But, at least I went back to Him in the end.
And I'm glad to say I'm very grateful that God made be go through this hardship this year and I've finally submitted myself under His arms because I feel at peace with Him and His children. =)

大功告成

Finally! After slaving so long (except the hiatus during camp) I've finally finished all the cards for the 4 birthday...kids! =) WOOSH! Although the process was not very enjoyable..I admit...( I never knew drawing could be such a chore..cuz there's just SOOO much to think and plan!!) But none the less I'm satisfied! =D YAY! Time to celebrate Christmas!!! I'm SOOOO looking forward to the Re-U tommorow!
哗！搞了这么久，终于把那四张生日卡画好了！在我始画画这么久以来，从来都没有嫌弃过画画会很麻烦。但是这次就不同了。应为设计花费的时间真的是很长！（也许是我对自己的要求提升了。哈哈！）不过，终于完成了还是感到满足，开心。真的是等不到明天的聚会呢！啊！=)

The most precious 5 days:

I've made up my mind over my career path! I will take up Social Sciences in Hong Kong! (If results permit). Reason? Because it's one of my favourite choices (like DUH!) and it is very meaningful because the job scope allows me to help and touch alot of people! Especially in Hong Kong where such help is needed. And where did I get this inspiration? From Him.

Five days,is just like going to work for many people. But these 5 days was a spiritual awakening for the campers at the YMPACT 13th Crossing.
One of the most inspiring passages was:
Therefore I am now going to allure her;
I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her- Hosea 2:14

Obviously the desert is a harsh environment. So what does this mean? When He wants to speak to you, he will 'allure' you to a quiet or hardship where you will grow closer to Him. Thinking back, NS is the desert that He 'allured'..or should I say force? Since we guys don;t have a choice. But none the less this period of hardship brought me the sudden realisation that I had been drifting further away from him and that it's time that I go back to him where he will 'speak tenderly to me'. So this 2 years is not wasted. Even though I learnt practically nothing out of NS (other than lots of vices like back stabbing..and more back stabbing?) I was brought back to Him through the hardship and he has made me mature through the ordeal.

Then there was this game that really touched me. It was a maze with 2 point whereby my team members (all blindfolded) had to pick up something and walk back to the finish point. And I was 'volunteered' to be the leader to shout out directions to the group on where to turn, which direction to walk and so on. Sounds easy? There's a catch. There's also another team doing the maze at the same time so you need to compete in volume with another person. And the facilitators will distract your team members by shouting wrong orders,pouring water, ice,tickling stuff at them.
This game reminded me of how it feels to be God. the role I played was actually God, who is guiding us( my team members) through our lives. The distractions are the many temptations that lie around us and the water and ice are the so called 'punishments' that people suffer. It was very difficult for them to hear me because of all the noise and distractions but we ultimatley completed the course. What really made me feel bad was that all my team members got wet when I was dry and screaming my lungs out. So in the end I volunteered to get water on myself =(

This game also explained why sometimes out prayers are not answered: there's just too many noise ( distractions, temptations) that block out God's voice and his answers. Take time to 'go to the desert', in this case somewhere quiet and pray. You might as well get the answers.

I would like to thank my group for their support and fellowship throughout the camp. Especially to Joel, who broke the ice with his funny pranks and lame jokes. Without him, our group would not have been so bonded. Thankyou Rachel for being the 'teacher' of the group and leading us through the lessons. Thankyou Daniel for helping me especially when I'm away helping 'casualties'.
And where do such great people come from? They're gifts from God! Be it whether these friends are Christian or not, they are still gifts from him.

Just look at this group of jokers: not all of them are Christians but they hold a special place in my heart. Without them my youth would have lost alot of colour.
This brings me to my next subject: testimony. Alot of Christians claim they have miraculous experiences with God. They've underwent extreme transformations to their lives. However, do all Christians undergo such dramatic lives? Ofcourse not! The best testimony to the greatness of God is the fact that all of us are happily living in peace and having enough to clothe and eat! Or for the friends around me, the fact that they've survived all the way up to A levels and University when so many others have failed. So the miracle of God, or your testimony is that simple!
Love the friends and people around you! You are already doing a great job! =)

哈哈！作为神的子女，我们不应该伤害自己人。但是讲到玩的话，那就完全不同啦！哈哈！今天刚刚去完教会的康乐营。玩得好疯呀！！我们被水，面粉，还有其他肮脏的不明物体袭击。啊！！救命！但是真的很好玩。接下来还有很多好戏看呢！哈哈！
非常感谢哪些帮我们搞鬼的兄弟姐妹们！多谢你们带给我们的欢乐和高笑场面！=）
As God's children, we are not supposed to fight against one another. But when it comes to fun and games...hehe! Today's Orientation was dirty!!! and fun!!! =) water, Flour and..lot sof other things! Really looking forward to the actual camp! WOOSH!

天上的微笑
Smile in the Sky

2008年12月1日的晚上你在那里?那些有去Prom Nite的人那个时候应该在忙着卖衣服，打扮自己。我自己就在上海，忙着跟朋友聊天。但是各位当晚有没有看看那晚的夜空呢？如果大家有留意的话，应该会发觉到天上正挂着一个微笑。弯弯的月亮，旁边挂着两颗闪亮的星星：木星和金星，散发着无限的光芒。
2008年12月，金融海啸正是水深火热中，信心破产，但是希望有没有破产？看到天上那巨大的微笑，你有没有感觉到温暖呢？那就看你自己啦！
以上的无聊想象是来自这本书：微笑的温柔孤度。看完了这本书，让人感觉到艰辛中的快乐。虽然，活在金融海啸中的年轻人绝对活得很辛苦。我自己也有自己的苦事。但是，在苦难中所找到的快乐是最让人回味无穷，因为它是最宝贵，最难得的。
2009年的12月，我身边也有很多正在挣扎，拼搏的年轻人（其实应该是女孩。男孩子们要等多1年!快完了！）有时候命运真的很残浩，虽然今年的夜天没有微笑，但是你们需要记住，你们身边已经有很多人正在默默地支持你，为你祈祷。笑一下吧！=)
Where were you on the night of December 1st 2008? Those going to Prom Nite must be shopping for clothes..I think? I myself was in Shanghai. The weather was cold and ofcourse I did not bother to go out of the house. I spent the whole night chatting.. forgot with who. But did anyone look up at the sky that night? If you had noticed, you would have found a big smile bearing down at you. Basically this is a rare astromonical occurance whereby the planets of Jupiter and Venus happened to be in a line together with a cresent moon to form this smiley face in the sky.
Late december 2008 was a horrible month for many people in Hong Kong and Singapore alike. Trust was corrupted but is hope corrupted as well? Did the surprising occurance of the smiley face bring you any warmth or sweetness? that depends on you! This month, one year after the occurance, my friends around me (sorry..applies to girls only! haha! We guys need to wait 1 more year!! Coming soon!!) are slaving hard over their work: studies..exams..yada yada...Sometimes fate is very inhuman. It just hapens to throw the wrongs things at you at the wrong time. There's also no 'smile' in the sky this year. But don't be demoralised! There's alot of people quietly supporting you, praying for you! Relax and concentrate! Things will settle down eventually! Smile!

非常可爱的卡通。哈哈！一个常常发生在西环这个小角落的事。

Mainland Chinese

I know. Alot of us like to scold the Mainland Chinese for things that went wrong. Such as people who block the escalaters,people who smoke,spit and do lots of disgusting thing sin public...but today I realised something that made me change my perspective of them.

While teaching a group of 'students' how to do IV(Intravenous Infusion) I happened to take a pair of students from the mainland. To be exact, both of them are from FuZhou,Fujian. While all the other students were screaming in pain when the needles entered their skin, these two were very calm. One of them even had to have the needle go through the veins on the back of his hand. This part is the most painful part of the body to do IV on because the bone and vein is very close. Last time someone did that on me, I screamed like hell. However, this chap not only did not scream, he was able to withstand the pain! WOW!

This must have been some really great peseverance! And from what this guy told me, his life was not so...(nice) so this bit of pain was nothing to him. He really won my respect for his strength. Sometimes, we may be more educated than some people. But we still have alot to learn from them.

毕打街的饭局

当我要离开香港的前两天，有位‘老友’约了我去恭谨饭局。地点：中环（大家乐）和毕打街（星巴克咖啡）。这次的饭局谈及了许多关于我们青年的课题。

（关于我‘老友‘的话题还是不要在这里说。。。哈哈！）

其中，最有趣的就是为什么我这么喜欢看‘毕打’。其实答案非常简单（但是我也不会在这公开的场合讲出来。哈哈！）

这个饭局也让我体会到‘男人不易做‘的道理。香港的男生已经够遭了。当他们毕业后，需要马不停蹄地找到工作来赚钱买房子。香港的楼价是天文数字。对于一个刚大学毕业的‘孩子’来说最对不容易。再加上如白天打劫般的交通费和日日升帐的食物价格更是让这个问题雪上加霜。如果老板没良心，更会被无理减人工，无薪加班，放无薪假来惹你麻烦。

我呢，我就遭了！白白被浪费两年宝贵的清春。两年对于一个八十多岁的老政治家绝对没什么重要，因为他的生命已经快要走到尽头，多活一天已经算是幸运了。但是对于一个18岁的青年，两年的时间已经够他赚几万，甚至几十万（港币）。就算是那些有钱，有学力的也会把这两年花在学习，大学，升值。那会有人像我们天天在无聊的（地方不可以说）发呆，看咸书，糟蹋大脑，去红灯区‘叫鸡’。（还好我不是这种变态的禽兽！）。悲哀！！

很想带她来这个地方。其实这个地方常常用作拍戏的外景，但是也有很多恋人在这里欣赏大自然的美。尤其是它的日落，实在是迷人。

寒流又要到了！

回家了！

相隔幾年我又再次回到海怡半島。回到熟試的地方，感覺到額外的溫暖。猛烈的陽光把秋天的寒冷趕走。家裏沒什麽變化。只是商場變得死靜了，人流少了。相信是因爲金融海嘯的衝擊所造成的。非常感謝跟我一起回來的朋友,JX & Dan。相信他們也蠻enjoy這個節目，尤其是他們八卦的個性。哈哈！

香港大學真的很美，很大，而且非常國際化。不要整天以爲港大學生只會講廣東話，現代的大學不只收錄本地和内地學生，也收錄了很多海外的精英。這種學習環境非常叫我羡慕。唔...我很想成爲港大的一分子呀！希望2011年的九月可以早日到來！

雲吞面

‘嘩！呢碗雲吞好細呀！’
28元（港元）在外面可以吃到很多其他東西，但是昨晚這28元偏偏就花在這幾小碗雲吞面上。唔。。。值得嗎？當然！因爲這28元裏的心血確實不少。
雲吞裏的蝦，以及其他配料都是當日新鮮運到，麵條需要花上幾個小時座在竹桿子座呀座呀，壓呀壓呀才能做成。
28元確實不是小的數目，但是值得回味的感覺是無价的。開心的時刻也一樣。當它發生在你身上時，記得要珍惜，過後才來回味就太遲了。

I arrived 2 hours before my flight to send my parents off first. So now I'm left to slack around the departure lounge and err....enjoy?? haha! It's been some time since I get to enjoy such serenity. Terminal 3 is as quiet as usual and the sunrise is just as spctacular.

Hope this is a good omen for the next few days!! =) I've been itching to go back Hong Kong for so looong!!

SO...sayonara for the time being! For those still mugging for their A levels add more oil!! just 7 more days!!! (ActuallyI think it's less than 7 for some XD) And for the rest in uni, work hard for your exams! I know some people have papers on saturday but nevermind the burden for 1 day, you will be handsomely rewarded for your effort one day. And the rest just TC!! =)

A levels: 1 year after:

hmm...I think some of the JC muggers should have finished their last papers by now =) Anyway, congratulations to those who finished!! And to those still mugging away, aded oil!!! Your 'suffering' is nearing its end!!! (Just don't think about uni...or NS..for the guys)

Anyways, I realised soemthing: my blog readership has nosedived after my enlistment and has stayed low ever since. hmm..Have my posts become more lame...or random? quite obvious! I happened to read some of last years posts. Ahhh...what happened to my intellect?! All lost to the grass in my brain? Maybe! I need the exposure to intellect!!! No more of those rotten rubbish topics in camp!! No more thinking buying of PSP in HK! In exchange, I'm going to get something useful for my brain...like some books that sound really interesting I saw on the YZZK ad. HAHA!

Going back to NP =)

It has been some time since I last went to NP. I think the last time was 2 years ago? haha! Anyway, it was my pleasure to go back to teach last week. There have been quite a few changes. Like they've closed some of the toilets and demolished some buildings. Some stuff have not changed..like some of the old buildings...which are still standing, the canteen..and the still very cool library. Still very jealous why they have such a cool library sia. =D

haha! anyone remembered what we did here 2 years ago? If I'm not wrong it was water bombs =)

And I think I still miss this. haha! So long never talk to those people already. Anwyay, I did'nt get to see anyone I knew there. =( But not surprising, they all by now year 3 already (unless they got retained...which is unlikely..you think like MJ meh?) so they won't be so free and boh liao to attend such a bo liao talk by us. haha!

And...if I'm not wrong, this LT is already demolished! =(

A change of tone for畢打

This photo is very cute!

Anyway, yesterday's episode was probably the most 'down' episode (probably only rivaled by the episode 鄧勵軍 left the story. Anyway Cho Lam ROCKS!! =) too bad he had to leave the cast) because 包公and堅姐 broke up! But then again, I was not surprised. It was not the first time he lied to her and it was not the first time they had a similar problem. this was just waiting to happen. Somehow this episode also gave us a question to ponder:

You are saving up for your wedding but one of your 'brothers' gambled his assets away and needs you to save him from the loan shark. Which would you choose to save? Your 'brother' or your wife-to-be?

Hmm..difficult question...=)

But one thing I'm sure most of us fellow brothers must do, (especially those BUG***S in XXX) : Quit smoking, gambling, and visiting Gey***g! They are not going to give you extra pleasure (maybe for a short period of time) but ultimitely it will ruin your relationship and your life!!

And finally, I think 欣欣 and 徐榮 acted their roles very well for this episode! JY!! =)

For the convenience of those who do not understand Chinese, basically there was this bus accident on Monday where this bus overturned resulting in 1 death 35 injuries. So among the passengers, this girl was sitting on the right side of the bus. ( the bus flipped to the right side) So her boyfriend saw that she was about to be crushed and he grabbed her and..( the paper never elaborate..they only said grab) but i assume he ended up on the right side of the bus and injured his legs. ( quite obvious from the bleeding) while his girlfriend had only minor injuries.

So...fellow brothers, soemtimes you do not need to use words or gifts to charm a girl. Most importantly you need to open your heart to her and put her life above you. A girlfriend is for you to love and not a toy for you to play around. ( ref-我的最爱: movie starring Alex Fong and Stephy tang)

So no more of going to XXXX places and doing XXXX kind of stuff guys! Don't let us down!

啊GEM的大碟出街啦！！

最搞笑的就是在新加坡报纸上看到她。其实那广告跟阿GEM没有关系，但是...如果跟她没有关系却还要用她的脸，那就是说她真的很有名啦！

昨天我回了学校拿回我的Referee's Report。（我跟港大又走进了一步了！！）回到母校，看到很多师弟，师妹疯狂地读书。回想起一年前的我就是跟他们一样，非常和味，同时也让我想起阿GEM的新歌：18。我们都年过18（一年而已！！）相信我们对之前那19年的回忆感驻良多。希望她的歌声也会感动到你们！

画中的我

我从第一天拿起画笔到今天都超过一年了. (咦?那不是跟毕打自己人一样咯!) 哈哈! 最近我发现我喜欢画画原来还有多几个原因.

我发现画画让我回想起以前高中时快乐的日子.

虽然那种向往应该没办法实现了. 时间一滴一滴地流过,樱花一片一片地落下,代表青春的春天渐渐地换成了代表成年的炎夏.厌恶的工作,没味的同事,叫人火爆的无良上师,真的叫人烦死了.让我更烦的是大学的问题,因为港大真的是很难进.现在很担心老师帮我写的报告会出问题,担心我准备的文件会不见,但是最担心的就是担心成绩不够好,被人拒绝.拒绝是这么多种感觉之中最难坑的.

画画让我跟朋友们再次'见面'.有一些已经几个月没见了!有时,我会想:为什么我会想这些人多过小嫣呢? (因为照理来讲她离开了这么久因该会比较想她)但是从现在的情况看来,有些人我从对上一次见他/她到现在也已经差不多两个多月了(根小嫣离开的时间差不多..赫赫!)每次在纸上画出自己喜欢人物时,都需要感受到人物的灵魂.所以每次画他们的时候就有如根他们的灵魂接触.不过我还是很想你们!!!! 要不要我把整个名单都写出来吗?很长呢!!!

有些人会问我：你在xx里面没有认识朋友吗？有是有的但是真诚的朋友就没有了.天天看着他们你踩我,我踩你的让人感到恶心,厌恶.这些'朋友'还算是朋友吗?损友才对!这样生活非常孤单,无味,寂寞.还是最近在教会里的朋友比较像人.不过我在教会里还是新人,需要时间跟教友们交流.希望我在那里会找到更多真诚的朋友啦!=)

画越画越美,成功感也增加了.最重要是有人欣赏我的作品.最让我感动的一次就是那次画给Charles跟Zimin的维他奶卡片.看到他们回写给我的短信让我有点感动,眼泪还差点流下呢!哈哈!将来我希望可以感动更多的人，帮更多需要支持得人送上温暖.(好幼稚的联想呢!不过我还是十九岁,青春还在吗!)

青春没了,只靠画中的一笔一划把这美满的青春留下.

I ran 2.4 again...and...

I failed again!! BUTTTT!!! I failed by......drumrolls....1 second!!!

YES!!! 1 second!!!! alot of people said I was very suay because 1 second is really really...errr..sian???haha! But then again..I've never came so close to passing in my entire life! Even my previous best was 13 plus..This time (12.21mins) is already an achievement for someone who perpetually fails 2.4.(Ok..I trained really really hard for this..) So...I guess I'm alot closer to my goal and I just only need to work harder next time. Same thing goes to the rest of you mugging furociously outside! Work hard and you might be surprised with the results!! Kambate!!! This also brings me to my next story...=)
I 'saved' a life today!!!=) "I'm finally useful!"
I was on the train with 2 other colleagues of mine and suddenly this guy fainted infront of us! So we were..errr..shocked? then we dragged him out of the train while someone called the driver. So by the time we reached the next station (City hall) there were MRT staff there. And I was SOO SCARED that guy was dead. So We almost did CPR on him. VERY fortunately he woke up before we did a head-tilt chin-lift on him. HENG sia!!! But we did attracted alot of attention from the crowd..everyone was like starring at us. I hope no one posts me on STOMP (Stupid people with noThing to do but cOMPlain) Lame accronym..haha!

Anyway, this (minor incident) made me feel very useful. I may not have been very successful..or useful...(alot of things...e.g A levels...losing her...kena back stab alot of times..hehe) but there's still a purpose in my existence. I guess it's true. He created all of us because there's a value for each of us to exist. So no matter how down, how useless you feel, especially after you suffer a setback, think back! There's a reason why you're alive! Are you moving in the correct direction? Is this what you're best at? If so, it may just be His will to make you stronger.

After the incident I reflected about my IPPT failure...hmm..I did train...I've become stronger..but I can be stronger. =D

The same thing applies to you. Your strength may be much stronger than you think. Kambate! =)

Genetic Mutation?
Haha! In a nice way ofcourse! Here's some random scribbles I made on some people. I've fused their genes with several other well known people to create a new look for them.
So.....I've a little game for you:
Try guessing the respectivem genes I've been mixing!!!=)

Home Good Moon Round!

Haha!!!The Mid Autumn festival is here! Time to eat Mooncakes and play lantern! Since most mooncakes come in fours', here's 4 mooncakes for your pleasure! Please eat in order please! =)
家: Family is ofcourse important! It really makes people feel warm to see the entire family having a good time together. Espeically when the kids are playing their lanterns. And they come in all sorts of designs and patterns which make the night really ablaze with excitement.
好:What's good? definitely the food and mooncakes! Let's eat!
月: This is the time when the moon is the roundest. Regardless of wherever a person will be, they are always standing under the same moon, enjoying the same beautiful night, brinign a sense of familiarity to people seperated far apart.
圆: HAHA! While we enjoy ourselves please remember the excercise away all the fats accumulated. Or end up with a BIG and ROUND face like 金鱼G.E.M!!!=)
Some random details:
This sketch features the new modifications I'll be making on my charachters. Jia Xian is getting a more natural hairstyle, same goes to EnChou and Geraldine..though not as obvious. Siu Yin also very obvious, I've given her the EXTRA round face =) As for Mabel Charles and Zimin, I have not found any rason the change anything yet.

一個很暴露的小故事
A little FLESHY story

幾天前，我被人抽籤抽中我做防化演習的‘傷者’。儅我得知這消息后，我就知道情況不妙了。應為在防化演習中儅傷者的‘幸運者’都需要做一樣我很怕做的事：在公衆場所裏脫衣。（啊！！！）還好我還有幾位同僚陪我一起遭殃。哈哈！
A few days ago, I was 'sabotaged' to be a casualty in a Hazmat excercise. Hazmat is a word I'm all too familiar of as medic-when you're acasualty you will need to do something which I'm most afraid of: Strip. Oh no! At least I had a few 'brothers' to be with me through this.
演習當晚，‘幸運者’們被安排座巴士從集合処到演習地點。（由於演習涉及國家機密，所演習地點不方便透露。）到了演習地點我們換上了我們不要的衣服。這是由於在清洗傷者的過程中，救護人員會把傷者的衣服剪爛。過後，我們就被安排躺在指定的位置。我那天比較倒黴，被安排扮演‘重傷’的傷者。（哎呀！這次糟了！）
On the night of the excercise all of the 'casualties' were bused to the location (undisclosed due to national security) and we changed into our unwanted clothes a they would be cut up when we are decontaminated. After all the preparation, we were assigned places to 'die' and lie down. To add more to my suay-ness I was assigned to be a P1 or seriously injured casualty.(Oh no!! this means more clothes are going to be cut!!!AHHH!!!)
從我們到達演習地點到演習開始得時間足足有四個小時。我躺的地面是馬路，所以非常硬，很不舒服。但是我實在太累了所以不知不覺地入睡了。吾...對不起，應該是半昏迷狀態，應為我‘睡’的時候還聽到周圍的人的講話聲。
From the time the casualties were planted to the start of the excercise we were just told to lie down(or sleep) and wait. In our case, it was 4 hours.My location was in the middle of the road so it was SUPER hard and VERY uncomforatble. However I was too tired so I fell asleep anyway.
演習開的時候我也不知道發生什麽事。總知，我醒來的時候我就看見一位穿上全副武裝的救援人員拉動我的腳。（那套’武裝’有點像'天綫德德B' (teletubbies)) 哈哈！由於不夠擔架，我就被這位救護員拉到‘安全’的地方（急救區）。嘩...被人拉的感覺一點也不舒服，我的雙手好像要被拉斷使得。我還被人傢罵我重。我心想：我的體重60公斤都沒有，這也叫重？！那‘安全的地方一點也不安全，它是在一架消防車前，非常可怕。
When the exercise started, I was still dazed. This was mainly because I was rudely awaken by a rescuer who suddenly pulled me hard on the arms. The jerk felt like my ands were to be amputated. This was followed by me being dragged along the floor. Reason? They did not have enough stretchers. ARRGGHH!! And the funny thing was that the recuer complained about my weight. He was like,' Wah lau eh..why you so heavy sia!!!' And I thought: WHAT R HELL?! I'm only 58kg and you call this HEAVY?!?! We were then dumped a t a first aid point..in front of a fire engine. I wonder what would happen of the fire engine were to move..will we get crushed?
在急救區，我被人亂抹（非禮！！哈哈！），亂踩，還被人打針。幸好那針是假的。不然，我早就把他們給殺了！哎...講道尾，我們被很多人侵犯就對了。接下來的就更‘暴露’了。吾...還是不要寫好了。不讓你們亂想！總知到最後，所有人都是赤犖犖的。
At the first aid point we got 'treated' by being touched (ALOT of times),stepped on,injected (lucky not real ones) and to be more crude:molested. The next scene is..well..I shall not say much.bascically you expect to see alot of flesh! oops!
還好，當我快要被‘沖洗’前我聽到我最想聽到的消息：演習終止！所以我不用‘遊街示衆’！哈哈！其他同僚們就沒那麽幸運了，有些真的被人（哈哈！），非常尷尬。還是不要把自己的快樂建立在別人的尷尬上，我不要多講了。不過我真的要說，”其實我的命運也算不錯，不要有太高的要求。希望我們下次不會遭殃啦！
However, fortunately for me, just as I was about to be washed and decontaminated, I heard the most beautiful phrase of the night: Excercise cut! Phew! I'm SO lucky that I did not get stripped or washed. My other 'brothers' were not so lucky. Most of them got washed and one of them got stripped to his underwear! Sexy! haha! Anyway, thank god and whoever who blessed me that night nothing 'bad' happened to m that night. Hmm.. guess I'm still quite blessed afterall. Thankyou! Hope all of us won't get to go through this again!
小後記 Postscript：
這漫畫其實是一個跟易傢家具（IKEA)有關的小作品。跟沖涼沒什麽關係。雖然是有點黃色，有點佼笑。哈哈！

Behind the Comic

2008年九月十八日：本港天气晴，气温高达32.2度。年终考试刚刚完毕，还有十一月的会考要准备。啊！！什么叫複數（Complex numbers）？？它究竟是什么变态的东西？为什么我怎么努力也不会明白？（其实到了今天，我还是不懂複數的一点原理）。压力，心酸，失败，这些不愉快的感觉如海啸般涌向我来。在这个非常低落的时刻，我把手中的GC放下了。我看着当日明报的新闻，其中一篇是介绍香港漫画。当时我心在想：如果MJC有偏漫画就好了。呀？不如自己试一下吧！我拿过了白纸，把漫画trace到白纸上。后来，我画了个日本式的漫画眼睛，再帮它加上一个可爱的脸孔。呀！原来我会画画呢！就是这样，我自己学会了画漫画。虽然我今天还是对複數毫无理解，而且很讨厌它，但是这可恶的家伙给予我了一枝画笔。=）

September 18,2008, weather, sunny,temperature 32,2 degrees celcius. The prelims were just over and the A levels was only a month away. ARRGGHH!! What on earth is complex numbers?!?!? Why is is soooo difficult to undertand? At this moment, I put down my GC. Why stress myself so much after a major exam? I happened to come by a particular report about Hong Kong Manga and thought..how great would it be to feature one in MJ? Hmm...why not try myself? I started tracing the manga on the newspaper onto tracing paper...I then added a Japanese manga eye and a face and viola! I can draw! Even though I still have no idea what complex numbers is about, and I still abhore that topic, this pain in my brain gave me the ability to put ink into pieces of art =)

365天后的今日,漫画人物都长大了。原本的日式眼睛换成了又大又可爱眼睛。他们也越来越像现实中我想画的人。非常感谢（对不起..哈哈!）小嫣，zimin,JiaXian 和Charles。因为我在画纸上所做的‘实验’都是做在他们身上。哈哈！将来可以画个戏剧？星洲版畢打自己人？哗哈哈！

365 days later, my characters have grown up. The original Japanese eyes have given way to a set of big eyes..which I have no idea where it comes from. But it moriginated from a drawing I saw before in Hong Kong. They were smaller though =) So...what next? Draw a serial? Off Pedder Singapore edition? haha!

天气资讯由香港天文台提供。他们有个‘过去天气’的功能可以让你得知以前的天气。只需要把你要的热气输入资料库，他们就会让你得知该日的天气状况。这次我再度画了小嫣,zimin,JX,跟Charles。不过在不久的将来我还是会用旧的模式来画他们。因为新的模式有点太标准了。小嫣的漫画我没让它‘出街’。虽然她的脸现在变圆了也‘应该’变可爱了。不过以我认识的小嫣，我看如果这漫画真的‘出了街’的话，我应该生命难保！=D

Weather information provided by Hong Kong observatory. They have this (past weather information) which is very interesting. You just key in the date you want and they'll give you the weather for that day. This time I have featured a revised version of Charles, JX and Zimin. But I doubt I will be using this newer version soon. Mainly because they look a bit too...unrealistic? I've also done some modifications to SiuYin: Make her face look ROUNDER. =) I doubt I'll live another day if I publish the final product here =D These cartoons will not appear on facebook. =)

维他奶的温暖

八号风球现正悬挂. 相信本港各处都衡风衡雨. 刚看过新闻提要,风真的瞒大的. 回想起以前打风的日子,真的很'开心'很'意外',很'惊喜'. (因为打风不用上学，不用回学校被老师骂XD). 新加坡的天气就刚刚相反. 32度的炎热把房子烧得如火炉般的. 在这闷热的夜晚(应该是这几晚),我画了维他奶的春夏广告漫画:Stand By Me
这广告应该是我看过最温暖最感人的. 它把观众带回青春期,让他们回味一下青春的活力,幼稚,任性,快乐. 现在我人以19岁了.人老了,青春一滴一滴地流走,回忆也变得越来越远但也越来越甜. 这广告就对我产生更大的吸引力,让我爱上它了.
漫画快画完了!还剩4副图就完成. 既然我现在在喝维他奶,就介绍几个维他奶的'食谱'给大家吧!=)

（对不起，应该不是食谱，是早餐新主义）
维他奶燕麦片：
材料：
250ml 维他奶（原味/麦井口味）
10茶匙及食麦片
做法：
把加热后的维他奶加入及食麦片
现在就可以享用了！
用维他奶代替全脂牛奶可以减低脂肪的入取量。而且还非常美味呢！

维他奶+ 饼干：
材料：
250 维他奶（袁伟/麦精口味）
你最喜欢的饼干
做法：
Oreo加入牛奶相信大家应该听过吧。其实把甜味的饼干（任何牌子）放入维他奶也有同一个效果。但是比较健康 =）

Chocolate and Biscuit
Hospital
The strong smell of the anti-bacterial solution suffocated Hoi Ting as she stepped out of the lift.

Hoi Ting had always hated hospitals, in particular, Queen Mary Hospital. She was brought into this world in this hospital. It was also the place where her mother left the world on the same day she was born. Her grandfather also passed away in this hospital when she was nine, due to lung cancer. The scene of nurses and doctors donning protective protective gear did not make her feel better at all. But no one could blame them. The SARS epidemic was only 6 months ago.

Block K, intensive care unit-She could not be wrong. That was the exact room where her grandfather died. Today, however, she came to visit her father who just underwent surgery to remove a tumor.

She once asked her Auntie Yan Shueng,” Is cancer contagious?’
‘That, you will have to worry until you are old.’ Was her reply. 'Maybe when you're Yan Ming's age.' (Yan Ming is Hoi Ting's father. Auntie Yan Shueng is his elder sister)

This was the routine Hoi Ting took daily after school for the past two weeks. She would come alone and her hands would be empty because the day at school was so busy. Usually, she would study in the ward until the visiting hours were up. And it seemed that this routine would continue for a long time to come. Her father’s condition was not improving. However, her father was not complaining. The few hours of conversation with his only child was warm enough.

‘Hoi Ting, your mid year examinations are coming soon. Stop visiting me and spend more time studying at Auntie Yan Sheung’s place.’
‘Why? I’m doing fine in school. And… And the hospital is still along the way to her place. It’s convenient for me right?”
( Hoi Ting is lying. Both Auntie Yan Shueng and Hoi Ting stay in the same block at Wong Chuk Hang estate. Hoi Ting studies at Rosaryhill school in Wanchai. A visit to the hospital is a major detour.)

‘Just do as I say…’

Tears started to roll down her face.

“Come on…don’t cry…’ he patted her head gently and passed her a box of Lotte Koala Biscuits (樂天熊仔餅) ‘ You like them don’t you. Remember not to eat them in one go! If not you’ll get a fat and you won’t be pretty!’ he joked

Hoi Ting wiped the tears off her face and broke into a bitter smile.

‘mm!’ she nodded.

This box of Koala biscuits would last her a long time. Auntie Yan Shueng had been working hard to foot her brother’s hospital bills. Despite the government subsidies she still struggled to make ends meet.

‘Auntie Yan Shueng!! Do you want some Koala Biscuit?” Hoi Ting said cheerfully as she entered the door of their apartment.
‘Keep them for yourself. It’s been some time since you last ate them.=)’
‘Yes Auntie!’

Hoi Ting popped the first biscuit into her mouth. The biscuit layer cracked open as soon as they came into contact with her teeth and the chocolate oozed out, spilling out all over her mouth. Within a few milliseconds, the sweetness filled her mouth and all her senses. She had never felt this good for a long time. Images started to flash back into her mind as she stared out of the window.

Imperfection

Hoi Ting never knew how it felt to have maternal love. She never had it in the first place. The only love she knew was from her father. He used to work as an administrative officer at the immigration department. Life was not so bitter. Everyday, her father would pick her up from school and take the bus home together. Ever so often, he would buy her a box of Koala biscuits from the store below their apartment block. She also made it a habit to pop a few biscuits into her mouth before she started studying. She believed the sugar helped in her concentration. Most importantly, it made her happy. That was when she was in primary school.

Even at the age of fourteen, her father still loves her. But life became more bitter ever since he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and heart disease. His cancer made it impossible to work and he was forced to retire. The cost of his medical bills started to pile up and soon their wealth started to dwindle quickly. His sister, Yan Shueng saw their plight and offered to look after Hoi Ting while he received treatment. (Yan Shueng is single) However, Yan Shueng was not rich either. She worked as a journalist for a magazine and her pay was not sufficient to carry the burden

The Sin

The stress of examinations was taking its toll on her. Hoi Ting’s performance dropped partly due to her routine. She used to be the top ten in her level. She dropped to the top twenty-fifth. She had finished her box of Koala biscuits faster than expected. The desire for comfort was irresistible. Unfortunately she had run out of cash.

After school, she passed by the store again. Knowing she did not have money, she still went to the shelf, and took a box of Koala biscuits. She cheekily walked up to the store owner, Ming Suk (Uncle Ming).

‘Ming Suk! How much does one box cost?’ She smiled.
‘Six fifty.’
“ Oh no.. I think I did not bring enough cash. I’ll put it back then..’
‘Alright..’

She walked back to the shelf. But instead of putting it back on the shelf, she placed it into her bag. Ming Suk did not spot her because his vision of the shelf was blocked by the refrigerator.

Back in her room, Hoi Ting popped the biscuit into her mouth. The taste was the same but there was one more additional flavour to it- guilt.

Forgiveness

Six months have passed and Hoi Ting’s father was finally discharged from the hospital. He was still weak but he could at least perform most of his daily functions. This also boosted Hoi Ting’s morale and her grades improved. Her level position went back to the top ten in her promotional examinations to Form 3.

On the last day of school for the school year, Hoi Ting saw a silhouette she had not seen for a long time at the school gate. Her father stood there, no longer as strong as he used to be, but still the same person that brought her up.

‘Daddy!’ she shouted. She did not care about how other people thought she looked. Her childhood sprang back on her and she jumped on him and hugged him. It was embarrassing but that was the warmest feeling she ever had.

The pair, father and daughter walked pass the store again. On the front of the store hung a sign which said: Last Sale-Closing Down on 16 Jul 2004.

This moment in time brought back a flavour she did not want to taste again- guilt. The two walked into the store and her father headed for the shelf and handed a box of Koala Biscuits into her hand. Upon reaching the counter, Hoi Ting promptly handed fifty dollars to Ming Suk.

Ming Suk stared at her puzzled. ‘One box is only six dollars. Why fifty?’

Silence…

‘Ming Suk… sorry….did you remember the other day I asked you how much one box cost? I did not put it back on the shelf…I took it…so…here’s my compensation for you’

Her eyes turned red.

‘If you want to report me…please do so…’

Hoi Ting closed her eyes and stretched out her arms as if they were to be hand-cuffed. Tears started trolling down her cheeks.

Ming Suk broke the silence and laughed, ‘Ah….silly girl…actually the last time I knew what you were up to. But all the while you have not been troubling me like the other kids so I took it as a treat for you.’

Ming Suk handed Hoi Ting a tissue..

‘Good that you have the strength to admit your mistakes! Here, take back $38 change as a reward for admitting your wrong-doing.’

‘Just make sure you don’t commit this sin again. You were really brave.’ Her father patted her head. ‘You are really like your mother.’

Back in their apartment, Hoi Ting popped the biscuit into her mouth. This time, the chocolate was pure and untainted.

Simple pleasures can be an indulgence if your mind is free.

Yan Ming looked at his daughter indulging in her snack. Her determination reminised that of his wife. He wondered how life would be if she was still alive. However he did not blame his daughter. She had the right to come to this world. His wife's spirit lived in her.

Three uneventful years have passed since Hoi Ting’s father was discharged. His cancer had stabilized but he was still relying on medications to maintain his condition. Hoi Ting did well for her HKCEE and continued to do her F5 and F6 (Junior College in Singapore) at Rosaryhill School. Their family also moved from Wong Chuk Hang to Shek Pai Wan in early 2008 because the estate was going to be demolished for a new MTR line. In May 2008 came Hoi Ting’s HKALE(equivalent to GCE A levels) exams. After the exams, she worked in school doing administrative duty to earn more money to support her father’s medical bills.

Tenth July

Tenth July 2008 began like any other Thursday. Hoi Ting was turning nineteen. That day, she took a day off her duty to pay her respects to her mother, a regular routine she had been doing every year.

Wo Hup Shek cemetery was peaceful as usual. The summer breeze ruffled the grass around the grave. Hoi Ting laid the flowers and joss sticks she brought to rest and started cutting away the excess grass that had grown onto the grave. The mid-day sun started to warm up the ground.

The serenity was rudely disturbed with her hand phone vibration.

‘What?! Ok…I’ll come to the hospital right now.’

Hoi Ting rushed down the concrete path and hailed a taxi.

‘Queen Mary Hospital. I want it fast,’

Her father had just suffered a heart attack and Auntie Yan Shueng had called for an ambulance. From the urgency of her voice, his condition was not promising.

Hoi Ting dashed to the lift as soon as she reached the hospital, pushing aside everyone in her way. Auntie Yan Shueng was standing outside the ward when she reached.

The solemn expression on her face explained everything. There was no need for conversation for Hoi Ting to understand. Tears rushed down her face as she dived into her aunt’s arms.

Chocolate and Biscuit

Tenth July 2009. The summer sun scorched the HKU (University of Hong Kong) campus. Hoi Ting strolled dreamily down the steps outside HKU student’s Union. Her bag was full of presents from her friends and her face was oily after all the whipped cream that went on her face during her birthday bashing inside. She had done exceptionally well in her HKALE and was given a scholarship at HKU. Preparations for O-Camp were underway and her duties as an OGL were just beginning. But the afternoon of her birthdays are always reserved for something more personal. This year had a double amount of importance.

The vibration from her hand phone woke her from her daze.

“Hello? I’m leaving school already. Fanling MTR? Ok..’

The joss sticks and flowers were laid to rest next to the two graves. Hoi Ting muttered a prayer as she placed the joss sticks. A teardrop slowly oozed out of her closed eyes. When she opened her eyes, she saw a hexagonal box right in front of her face.

‘Hey! Take one! =)’ Auntie Yan Shueng smiled as she tore open the box.

The aroma of chocolate filled Hoi Ting’s mouth again. Every bite on each biscuit was like one explosion of goodness after another. This cycle suddenly stopped when she bit open a biscuit with a manufacturing defect- there was no chocolate inside. The taste was blend and tasteless.

‘Hey, this biscuit has no chocolate in it,’ She muttered randomly.
‘Have you ever wondered why Koala Biscuits need to have chocolate inside?’ asked her aunt.

It did not take long for Hoi Ting to figure out.

The biscuit is an imperfect comfort food. Biscuits smell nice when freshly baked but once they cool, the attractiveness of their aroma dwindles quickly. They are also blend and tasteless when compared to chocolate. Chocolate on the other hand has the opposite of biscuits. It has a strong aroma and the sweetness in it fills the person who eats it happiness. The combination of these two opposing ingredients created the popular snack that many children (and people with a child’s heart) enjoy.

‘Hoi Ting, your life is imperfect. So is mine. But have you noticed that there are also perfections in your life?’

Hoi Ting thought for a while. It was true, no doubt her family was imperfect, but she at least had a loving and responsible father who once nurtured her into the person she came to be. Even though he was no longer with her, she still had an aunt and her friends to turn to. Furthermore she had an intelligent brain which made her academic life much smoother than people her age. These were the little perfections in her life that made her life colourful.

Today

The evening of fifth September 2009 was peaceful as usual at HKU Starr Hall. The term for year two had just started and the sun was setting over the distant silhouette of Lantau Island. Hoi Ting lay on her bed in her hall room, munching away on a box of Koala Biscuits.

‘Tseng Hoi Ting, why do you always eat Koala biscuits?’ asked her hall-mate curiously
‘Want one?’ Hoi Ting laughed

Her 20 years of existence could be briefly summarized into the little Koala shaped biscuit.

Postscript:
This story contains 2 themes-Forgiveness (represented by Yan Ming, Hoi Ting’s father) and imperfection (Auntie Yan Shueng).
The story on Sins was inspired by a Chinese book I came across quite long ago. In 2006 I think. All of us commit sins throughout our daily lives knowingly or unknowingly. But many of us fail to face them bravely to seek of forgiveness. Without this bravery, we will never be forgiven and never be able to change for the better.
The imperfection and Koala Bears are an original creation from me =D All of us are born with imperfections and perfections. These opposing factors complement each other to make each of us beautiful. How we see them depends on our perspective. But no matter what, the chocolate and biscuit in our lives makes it colourful. So hope this story brightens your day and brings a bit of warmth to our hectic lives. =)

And for those of you who were speculating….the drawings were for this story =D haha! Sorry…no scandal !!! =D

I Survived Thai Express Spicy Yellow Ginger Chicken

The following is a first hand experience from Jia Xian and Jack over the Thai Express spicy Yellow Ginger Chicken. How spicy is it? Just look at how much chili they use. And I can guarantee the hotness will make even the most 'proficient' in spicy-ness release their tears. Trust me...my tears flowed like siao after swallowing one piece...and it was not because of BGR...=(
Here is a pictorial account of how Jack coped with the spice. =D
Note: This guy swallowed a piece of cucumber soaked in the chili paste. So his effects is more jialat than JX and the rest who tried the chicken.

No hot leh.... yea...wait a while first...wait till you swallow the whole thing first...

Ah!!! Now you feel it!! (Same thing goes for HongKong's Curry Fish Balls!!!!=D)

Happy Birthday Siyi!! (2 weeks in advance)

Since everyone is soo busy, we've decided to meet at every first Saturday of evry month to catch up and do something. This week, we're celebrating Siyi (aka Play-girl)'s 19th birthday. So this means somebody now no longer 3 years old (self proclaimed) already! Time to grow and and mature....although I doubt so.. XD

Anyway, we just did what we always do..play bridge..cuz the guys can't play in camp (arrrghhh..all the stupid restrictions!!!! Where's all the dignity of 'serving the nation' ?!?!?! Ok..before I start ranting again )

And asking of alot of stupid questions. Hmm...like Jun Kang?? Go and ask something so 变态. I wonder where he goes shopping in the department store? No prizes for guessing XD But I'm sure it's a 'no men's ' territory..you get what I mean.

We had the golden opportunity to bash Siyi...but..too bad....why wste such a good cake?

And yupp..the card I designed =D By now I'm starting to use a new slightly modified set of eyes for my characters. But most people I draw in future will still look like their previous counterparts. I'm still sticking to my 1:2 ratio and I'm not ready to move into the 'mutants' style..that is to draw the super big head and small body..yea..the cute kind..

Then we played UNO stacko + Tureth or Dare. So heng I kena-ed only once XD And they did not ask the really 'stupid' questions. In brackets because they are VERY difficult to answer.

Was this all planned??

I have not been to church for a looooong time...bad:( The last time being during Christmas last year and the last regular service in Hong Kong. So today is the second time I attended church this year. But something seemed to have struck me today:
Is our life planned by god?
maybe it's true...
When I was choosing my subject combination for sec3, I was caught in between triple science and double science with Geography. I was strongly attracted by the 'glam' of being in 'A' class. Because triple science classes is always the first class followed by 'B' class which is my combination. But somehow I had a strong feeling I should choose Geography. and I was right-geog is my forte. Contrary to what many others wanted me to.
Then there was the time when I had to choose between TJ and MJ. Many people said I was stupid to choose MJ over TJ. Furthermore, I was posted to TJ, which many other people wanted. But somehow...I had the feeling that MJ was the right choice. And sure it was. I did relatively ok in MJ and I took alot out of my 2 year experience.=)
While choosing CCAs I wanted to join service leraning club. But shomehow, there was this feeling that I would end up in Biz Club in the end. And sure it did. And I really really LOVE the Biz people. I doubt I'll have such great friends if I was given a different path. =D
Now my next strong feeling is to choose HKU faculty of Social sciences as my top choice for tertiary education. No doubt many people have adviced me to stick with NUS, I think I will leave the decision in his hands. I have faith I'll get in and do well =)

So I guess it was all fated? God was guiding me in my important decisions all along. And thankyou God for giving me a wonderful 6 years of youth =D Now, I think it's time I go to church more often =D and pray for the people around me who have blessed me so much.

Going back MJ Again..hopefully not again next week =/

Thanks to me being forgetful, I had to go back MJ again today to stamp some more copies of my certs. Actually I do not need to get them ready so early because the application forms for HKU and CUHK are still not out yet. And It'll be some time before I have the referee's form to give my CT to write. Hmm..but since I'm taking off today, might as well drop by =)

This week I met Kat and Javier by chance and had the opportunity to blabber with them a bit. =D Anyways, for Zimin Jack and other people in 07S208, bad news: Your scary GP tutor in J1 is back! Hope she does not recognize you!

Also, Compass is replaced by this 'Crystal' thingy for the J1s. So from next year onwards, Compass will be non-existant. (As if i care)

Perkafe has not changed much =D Our Chiobu is still there.

Ok..so much for the random stuff I found out.

Postscript:

This is the last Macdoanld's advertisement I'll draw as Macdonald's launched 3 advertisments featuring their delivery service. This was supposed to be the 'Soccer episode' but due to the large number of people I wanted to draw, I changed the storyline completely.

I did not plan to make SiuYin as 医神 in the original script. But after the conversation last saturday online, I decided to change the script because her OG was called 医-son which sounded really cool =) But I think 医神 sounds cooller cuz it makes you sound more powerful=D

Eason is the hardest person I've ever tried to draw. Aparently my style of drawing makes it VERY difficult to display his features. Especially because he has small eyes but my characters have BIG eyes. And the Macdonald's cap hid all his hair which made my work more difficult. So I needed to concentrate entirely on getting his facial shape right. Ahhh!!! So exhausting!

Random Return to MJ =)

Late Augest 2008: We were all preparing for prelims (25 days to be exact). Revision packages were piling in the photocopy shop. Muggers were dragging teachers for consultation and those who were not were mugging away profusely .

Late augest 2009: After a strange change of events, I was assigned to teach at Tampines and was given afternoon off. Woosh!! So decided to detour back to MJ to stamp my photocopied SGC and certificates from the school. And best of all, Iwas just in time for common lunch. =)

Thanks Charles for opening the gate for me =) Thanks loads!!!!=D

First of all, I saw Mr Yeo, who's regretfully leaving at the end of the year. So the realms of MJ's CSE ambitions will be handed over to Ms Fauz. JY juniors!!!!! You're still in good hands!

Then caught up with Li An and Karyn (who still owes my PW script..haha!). Good to know they did relatively ok...because I did much worser for my mid years last year. (Hmm..anyone want's to try getting 29% for H2 Maths?) And ofcourse, i got stopped by Hoa Kiat. So funny la he....then kept talking about..what else ... NS..yucks! But too bad, all the guys who kena-ed the 'hiong' vocations(e.g Commando or Navy Diver) should have received their elistment letters by now. Hope he gets a nice slack job like me!!!=D

I also realised that I really miss MJ!! The blue mugger uniforsms brought back alot of memories (good and bad) but are all equally sentimental because they represented 2 out of my 6 years of youth( and lots of innocence) in Singapore. I wonder how I'll feel if I really fly back to Hong Kong in 2011. hmm..aiya..wait till next year then think..=/

And then there's this manga drawing software which is really cool! You basically draw into the screen and i's all doen on photoshop! But too bad it's only available on Mac and it's really expensive. But one thing-the demonstrators are just SOOOO pro! they don't even need guidelines and they can draw 10000000x better than me! i must learn from them one day. And...who's going to next year's Hong Kong Anime/Manga fest in late July?? I missed this year's. ARRRGGHH!!!!

A short visit..

Poor Evan was down with flu so she had to stay in hospital..So we went to visit and see how she was doing. And not very surprisingly...someone was quite..hyper? haha! Don't worry..it was a very minor thing so don't be alarmed!

And we ended up crapping about how 'hotel like' her ward is. Cuz it's Mount Elizebeth you're talking about. XD It really looks like a hotel! No wonder someone's so well taken care of! Just look at the food!! XD

Anyways..yes..I know the AYG ended quite some time ago but it took me quite long to come up with this cartoon. Question: Can you do CPR on Yourself?

I'm quite sure some of you might have heard of rumours on the internet that if you cough 10 seconds before a heart attack, you are actually doing CPR to prevnet your heart from stopping. (Sound's wierd eh?) answer is..yes..it is bullshit =D CPR can only be done by a second person. And PLEASE take note! Only do CPR on people with NO pulse and NO breathing!!! =).

上個禮拜天，我們跑到新達城去買禮物給默默先生和默默小姐 =)哈哈! 結果走了半天還沒找到我們要的東西．吾。。。

We had a hard time figuring out what to buy for ***** and ***** in the city. Since Suntec was having a Games Expo we decided to go kaypo kaypo. =) And what an interesting find it was!

作爲一個從來都沒看過西方動畫的人，這些人物就好像外星人一樣。（對不起！我到現在還沒看過一即星球大戰哦！）

I'm not a great fan of ang mo comics...in fact,I've never read one in the first place. So most of them look alien to me. (And sorry Star Wars fans..I've never watched Star Wars before! XD)

Clarke Quay 之夜

This was part of our SIS(HK) reunion last Friday. And the whole lot of us (not very but quite) innocent 'kids' tried some things we'll probably won't dare to for a long time to come.

相隔了8年，我們再見面了=）爲了慶祝我們將會成爲成年人，我們try了一些我們平時不會做的事情。=D

One thing you won't wana try though, is Shisha. It really makes you cough like nobody's business and..trigger your asthma attack if you have asthma. (VERY Bad for our medics at Central..hehe!)

不過，各位讀者們。。。請不要嘗試shisha. 因爲，玩過shisha的人，尤其是第一次的，將會哮喘病發。。哈哈。。不是開玩笑的哦！我玩過后真的要咳死呢！

Shelson drinking =) I forgot what's the name of that drink...something..bomb? yea..=D Actually it's quite nice..not very strong and definitley not deadly for first timers.

Medics....

Medics. The people who bandage you up when you cut yourself or kena blow up by a grenade? nah...according to my course instructors (from an undisclosed rescue service organisation) medics also need to: inject people,put IV drip,do CPR,pick up dead body,wrap intestines,watch people commit suicide....practically everything the paramedic( and police) does, you also need to do. Even injuries that people suffer during war...(what happened to the army medics????no offence!)
A few days back, we had our first injection lesson. This is probably ione of the most interesting lessons because there were actually 3 different ways of giving injections. (So it's not just mindlessly stabbing someone with a needle) And more interestingly, there're many different sizes of syringes. From the normal 5ml to the 50ml (goliath)....ooh..scary.... And the 50ml syringe needs a 14 guage needle (which is thicker than your yakult straw....) Luckily most injections require only the 5ml syringe and a 20+ guage needle (very narrow and painless)

In English: Don't worry sir, your head just go squashed by a minibus. You'll be fine!

And onle more thing. Medics are taught to lie infront of their casualties. Especially when they have really gory injuries (crap....=/) So next time when the paramedic tells you you have a minor injury, take it with a pinch of salt! Especially if you know what happened to you was deep shit! =D

June Vacation @ Meridian

With the careful guidance of the teachers and mutated mugger seniors like us, we have bred a whole new generation of little blue muggers who will faithfully return to school during vacatio0n to mug.

Went back to collect my SGC on Friday. Really glad that they allowed my to leave early to go back. And I met HuiQi and Mr Chen in the staff lounge =D And that place is frikkin COOL! HuiQi was 100% accurate about the induction stoves, fridge and 3 massage chairs. ZOMG! Which other school has similar facilities?
Anyway, I also managed to talk to Mr Chen about...NS...and guess what? He's also a medic. Just that he's an army medic. =D Guess I'm kind of lucky because we don't have as many assessments such as him such as one IV infusion per month-ouch!
When classes get boring..

And you have a whole lot of guys....We bring our yearbooks and look at...hehe...you know =)

Ice Cream-My Random thoughts =)

I have no idea what inspired me to draw this-random assembly of this year's J2 Biz Clubbers. =D Probably because I'm really missing Perkafe Icecream? Or more likely because they have more photos on Facebook? So next time when you post photos beware! =)

I had the wonderful opportunity of listening to President Obama's remarkable speech in Cairo from the nytimes website (GP muggers do go and listen. It's great! XD) Here's a few golden phrases that i think is worth mentioning.

Leon got to book out early on Friday. And...I guess he was kinda bored so he kept asking us out on Friday and Saturday. I eventually made it on Saturday night for dinner with him..and Clarice...the rest....duno where they go la....all CMI..=/

Yes, I know this is like super out dated. But too bad, I am now on some crazy medic course where we always go on OT to get extra poking from our friends or see more gory slides of people getting themselves into deep shit. (That's why you need MEDICS right?! )

Wide pull-up change! We see that some people have a full charge of testosterone eh? And very soon, they will experience pain in their left arm....don't worry, it's just muscle tear..not closed abdominal injury..or rib frature....=) (See...I'm going crazy over gore soon...)

Angels & Demons
Watched this film with JingXuan and Kim yesterday at Bugis.And I should say it's one of the better thrillers I've watched so far. Not too much unneccesary romance and palatable intervals of thrills. But the storyline is slightly different from the actual book. Basically less people died in the movie.
TK's Monkeys.

During our 'jalan'-ing time Kim was ranting about the students she were getting at TK. The kids talk back at you at every moment. Worst of all, some of them would insult you straight at the face because they knew you won't be able to 'talk' back at them. Examples including your age, even when you are only 19.=D The english standard of the Sec1 freshies have also degraded. Some simple volcabulary that we used when we were in Sec1 seems alien to them. Examples include pester. You need to explain to them in Hokkien-Ka Cheow. =) And ofcourse, the attitude problem of ours still exists with our super junior batches, only in a much more ugly form. Anyway, I'm now really looking forward to taking them for 'After School Care'.=D It'll be interesting to see how I compare with them. =D

We watched this movie before dinner at Kallang. And it was LOUSY! Paid $9.50 anhd I got porn and gore. Perfect if you were some bio student or a plain sadist. But for a normal humans like you and me: Don't watch this if you have a weak heart or stomach.
